Dr Michael Somers

Dr Somers graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2011 with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery.

Following graduation Dr Somers completed rotations through the major hospitals in Perth, with experience in various surgical and medical sub-specialties including Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, General Surgery and General Medicine. He was also involved in service improvement activities and clinical framework redesign.

Dr Somers moved into the field of Occupational Medicine in 2016, and was involved in the delivery of medical assessments and injury management (including acute care and minor procedures). Dr Somers commenced with OSHGroup in 2017 to continue his training and clinical practice in this area.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Somers’ is a published author – his research article ‘Quality Use of Medicines in Residential Aged Care’ appeared in the Australian Family Physician in 2010.

Dr Somers is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety through Curtin University, and undertaking training requirements for the Australian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Dr Somers is a Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) Authorised Health Practitioner (AHP).

Dr Somers consults at OSHGroup’s CBD and Airport clinics, as well as regularly visiting client sites throughout WA.
