Dr Michelle Harris completed her medical training at the University of Western Australia. Since graduation she has worked in variety of facilities and clinical areas including tertiary and private hospitals, General Practice, Emergency Medicine and Occupational Medicine.
After her initial rotations with the North Metropolitan Health Service, WA, Dr Harris spent 2 years as an Emergency Medicine Registrar before changing specialties to Occupational Medicine and working with OSHGroup for the first time in 2014.
She then moved into General Practice and undertook further training in this field, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College for General Practitioners in 2017. During her time as a GP Dr Harris gained invaluable experience in the diagnosis and management of a variety of illnesses and injuries, as well as the management of patients in the community with acute respiratory illness in the context of COVID-19.
Dr Harris rejoins our team of Occupational Physician Registrars in 2021, with a wealth of experience and knowledge that she looks forward to sharing with our clients. She will be formally commencing her specialty training as an Occupational Physician in 2022, along with her Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Dr Harris has a unique perspective on industry, mining and the fly-in-fly-out workforce. Prior to entering the field of medicine, she ran her own horticulture business and also worked in the mining industry in Kalgoorlie as a field assistant. Additionally, her husband, son and two daughters all work FIFO in different areas of the mining sector!
