Neuropsychologist

Dr Foster received his primary training in Medicine and Clinical Neuroscience in the UK, being the only Neuropsychologist currently practising in WA to have received this combined training. He obtained a First Class Honours degree in Psychology, Mathematics and Philosophy and his Doctorate in Neuropsychology at the University of Oxford.

He received advanced clinical training in North America, completing his Clinical Fellowship in Neuropsychology in Toronto, Boston and Pittsburgh. He is a Specialist Neuropsychologist registered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA), and a Full Member of the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists (CCN) of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

He has served on the National Executive Committees of both the APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists and the British Neuropsychological Society.

Dr Foster is an experienced international speaker and lecturer. He has authored/edited 6 books to date, published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific publications and given over 300 oral presentations. He was awarded the title of Professor in 2002 and now holds senior adjunct academic positions with both the University of Western Australia and Curtin University.

Dr Foster has been formally trained in the WA Work Cover guidelines for the evaluation of permanent impairment. He advises insurers, self-insurers, insurance lawyers and other health professionals across industry groups in Australia, North America and Europe.

Impaired memory, thinking skills and workplace behaviour after:

  • Traumatic brain injury and other types of head/neck/upper body injury

  • Stroke

  • Other forms of brain injury; e.g. due to hypoxia, heart attack, drug use, electric shock

  • Neurodegenerative illness

  • Impact of anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic fatigue on neurobehavioural functions

  • Objective, quantitative neurocognitive and neurobehavioural evaluation
